I suspect we are getting ripped off big time as prices here in Montreal are much higher than most anywhere else, Last week gas prices inexplicably rose $0.12 a liter overnight from $0.93 cents a liter to $1.05 a liter, an irritating course of action when i continually hear of the price of a barrel are at record lows.
Also rather galling situation when on my frequent trips to Ontario i see gas prices running $0.30 a liter cheaper than Montreal prices and prices per gallon in the USA are even more of a difference with prices below $2.00 a gallon.

Factor in all the municipal taxes, carbon taxes, all the other 20,000 taxes along with refineries wanting to get more profit which makes the gas prices here much more expensive than other places.

I dont understand why every one else isnt on the greed kick, just driving off the island prices drop 10 cents a liter, why is gas in Toronto in the 80s per liter and over a dollar in Montreal.
My main question is how the gas companies in the Montreal area can justify an overnight increase of 12 cents a liter.

Looking kinda obvious why the gas prices can go up $0.12 a liter over night, those in control can do it and no one cares.

I remember as a child being in the back seat of my mom's car as we pulled up to full-service gas stations. In her super-thick accent, she would say "Dix Ordinaire S'il vous plais." This went on for years. It would fill up the car. An no, this wasn't THAT long ago. How fast times change.

When you have to fill a vehicle with anywhere from 40-60 liters of gas every week a difference of 10-15 cents a liter can add up to some substantial money over the course of a year, particularly aggravating when you go off island and see prices anywhere from 5-30cents a liter cheaper.

The last time I visited, I remember driving up from NYC and being down to about 1/4 tank by the time I hit Plattsburgh. The little voice in my head was telling me to fill up in either Plattsburgh or Champlain. The idiot in me decided to press on... and fill up here: https://www.google.com/maps/search/g...7i13312!8i6656

Needless to say, the old Quebecois in me came out with a few "tabarnak"s in between sighs...

"Carbon tax" - what the heck is that? :-) Everything seems to go according to the "master elites" plan - a clique of economic parasites (i.e. not working and wanting money from us) pushing a bogus tax into our throats - soon will see an explicit "tax" added to the price of any product sold on this planet.

I say - BOO to the cliques of parasites and "master feudal lords"!!!

Only way to stop this is if for one or two days, no-one goes to gas up, which will most likely never happen unfortunately. There's that theory and another i always hear saying it's to discourage gas cars and to buy more electric cars.

Every one who drives a car needs to put gas in it whether you are a super elite or whether an economic parasite, my question is to do with Montreals odd gas pricing scam of charging an abnormally high price then letting it slowly decrease over 2 weeks to what i consider a normal price then jacking up the price by 15 cents a liter overnight. The equivalent raise in price in US gallons would be around 40-50 cents a gallon.
