Hello all! I'm a 28 year old American male planning a 4 day vacation to Quebec at the end of February. I plan to spend two days in Montreal and two in Quebec City. This will be my first time in Quebec and I'm seeking recommendations for tourist attractions.

A couple of days is a visit not a vacation. Enjoy your visit but be aware either of these wonderful cities, along with the rest of the Provence, will make you want to return for a real vacation.

Yankee from New Hampshire.

Are you going to rent a car?

For the Quebec City I can even give you the suggested route. It is the best to start around 4 pm, when it's going to turn dark soon. I would recommend to leave the car at the parking near the Hotel Chateau Laurier Quebec (quite cheap), turn left on Grande Allee and walk a bit south, then turn back and head back north on Grande Allee. When it becomes Rue St Louis check out the Parliament building, monuments and the fountain on the left. Proceed all the way north up to the square near the Chateau Frontenac (huge castle-like hotel at the waterfront)/funicular. Explore the area, walk around. Near the funicular turn right and walk along the waterfront, beautiful scenery when it's dark. There a huge sledding hill further to the right, totally worth it, works till 5 pm, tickets are sold at the small booth/cafe at the end of sledding track. Then go back to the Chateau Frontenac, take the funicular down to old Quebec, it is a magnificent neighborhood with tons of tourist shops, walk around there.

On the next day if you have a car, visit the Montmorency Falls and Sanctuaire de Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupre. If not, take a bus city tour. City tours are on the square near the Chateau Frontenac, explore the area around too.

I like outdoor activities and sports. However, it seems silly to go to Quebec to ski or hike as i can do that almost anywhere

Why have you chosen that location at that time of year if you like outdoor activities but it seems silly to do them?
