Car rental without a credit card. Coming next week to secure an apartment. (credit rating)

My husband, 2 year old son and I are flying to Montreal next week in order to find an apartment and we prefer to rent a vehicle for the week; every car rental at the airport requires you to have a credit card and unfortunately we do not have one, I am wondering if there is any place in Montreal where we can rent a car without a credit card? I'm really hoping there is as it is going to pain extremely difficult to go apartment hunting. :-( Thank you in advance.

Do you know ZipCar in the States? It's a car-sharing system, very similar to renting a car. You have to join, I think (it's just a few extra dollars) but, hang on, I think that there's an option to not be a member (membership is good if you're using it continually).

As per their FAQ page:

Credit card: Is it necessary to have one in order to use your services?
Communauto does not accept credit card payments. So the fact that you do not have one is not a problem for us. A credit rating check must however be made before you can subscribe.

You will have a rough time of it if you dont have a credit card, not sure why you dont have a credit card but your lack of one may also be a factor in the credit check the apartment landlord will most probably perform.
