We are definitely going to the Bio-dome. Does anyone have other suggestions for cool things to do with kids that are not teeny weeny? Thanks!

I have kids that age and live two hours away from Montreal. Here are some ideas.

Near the Biodôme are a few things you can check out. You can visit the Olympic Stadium and go up the tower. There is also the Planetarium which is a block away to the northwest of the stadium in the botanical garden complex (Jardin botanique). This area also has a kind of winter village where you can skate (not sure if you are from a cold climate so if this will be a novelty or not).

You should also go to the top of Mont Royal in the middle of the city where the view from the chalet is pretty cool. There is also a winter sports site there at Lac des Castors where you can slide on inner tubes.

Also the old part of the city (Vieux-Montréal) has lots of things to do in addition to having unique architecture. You can skate there and try ice fishing. Montreal's science museum Centre des sciences is also there.

There is also a space museum in suburban Laval - you need a car to go there. It's ok but if your kids have been to the one in DC it might be disappointing.

Have a poutine at La Banquise.

Take a horse-drawn calèche ride in the old city.

Go to a sugar shack party at Sucrerie de la Montagne (45 min. outside of town).
