salary advice (to rent, to buy, income)

Hi Everyone,
I have been offered a salary of $76k CAD after tax in Montreal.
As i'm coming from abroad I will need to rent, settle somehow etc.
I'm coming with 1 person - wife.

Could I have your kind advice on what this amount will give me in Montreal, what will be the standard of living and what could i afford to buy/have ?

$76K is very good...you'll live pretty well. Rent and housing is very cheap.
I live OK on less than half of that. You'll be fine.

"After" tax? Does this mean your pre-tax salary is $150K?

Are you sure about 76k after tax? That's huge!!! It means that your salary is around 150k with 76k after tax both of you can live happily ever after

The average salary in montreal is around 40k before tax!
