Political parties rarely put forward legislation that is blatantly contrary to their interests.
If Marois can still be tossed for a non confidence motion and can still call an election any time she wants i'm still not seeing why this piece of legislation was necessary when term limits were already in place..

Frankly, I'm still puzzled that you thought a minority government would try to legislate its way into a 4-year term.
Was this piece of legislation "necessary"? No.
Fixed date elections keeps'em honest. They sure are better than the current "let's pick the best possible time to go up for reelection whenever we're between 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 years into our term". If a majority government ignored the fixed date and called elections at some other time, that plan could now backfire.

Odd that with all the Francophones in Montreal and on various city councels they'd appoint an Anglophone as mayor.
With recent allegations of English running rampant in the streets of Montreal and now an Anglo Mayor ,, looking like an Anglo invasion to me, strict new language laws need to be implemented immediately to repel the Anglo oppressors.
There was more hoopla when the Habs hired an Anglo coach.
In the interest of accuracy, the interim anglo mayor actually does speak French - even though he has an accent. The Habs coach did not.
