Hello everybody,

We are moving to Laval in August this year. We're a family of 2 adults and 2 children (twins aged 3 years old). I made a trip in May to secure the appartment and to get familiar with the neighborhoods (it's not the same to read and see some pictures to actually visit the places!).

Anyway, the appartment piece is covered and now we were wondering what would be the best option for internet, phone and cable. We've heard terrible things about Bell, so we'll keep away from them. What about Videotron? Does anybody has any comments about it? Or what company would you recommend for these services?

We'll greatly appreciate your comments. Thank you!

Hiroshi.

Probably 6 of one and half a dozen of the other as people can have problems with both companies.I personally find Bell a bit expensive and a bit stupid as 2yrs ago when i had their bundle i had a problem with some of their phone charges being a bit high so i called them up and asked if they could bring their prices inline with their competitor well i got a resounding no to that idea so i dumped Bell and now have cable, computer and phone with videotron and wouldnt you know it Bell keeps calling me up to tell me what great savings they can now provide me
I'll stay with Videotron as they havent given me a problem to date.
Price for the full cable package, full phone package + a cell phone and the high speed computer hook up comes to $206 per month, this monthly bill could be reduced substantially if you didnt include the cell phone, took a smaller package on the cable and got lower speed and no wifi for the computer.
Enjoy Montreal.

Long time visitor to this site and I made an account just for your topic calabaza. I recently moved back to the Sainte Therese area after 10 years in the US(Florida). I spent days looking for great deals so the best for me were:

1) Cable TV: Videotron I chose basic channels with 20 additional custom channels total with tax around $C53. TV Packages | Videotron

2) Cell Phone: I chose Public Mobile for the long distance since 70% of my family(including my parents) lives in the US total with tax around $C43. Public Mobile Price Plans: Unlimited feature phone plans starting at $19 and Unlimited Android Smartphone Plans starting at $35.

3)Internet: I chose Electronic Box because I'm so used to having lots of monthly capacity. I'm with their cable portion 60Mbps/3Mbs 250gig service total with tax around $C61. You can choose lower speeds or go with their dsl service instead. Fournisseur d'Acces Internet Haute Vitesse Independant Connexion Internet Quebec et Ontario | ElectronicBox

I didn't put what type of home phone service because I had no use for it since I have a cell phone and my little sister who's going to university this fall also have a cell phone with same company. Good luck on your search and welcome to Laval mate.

Thank you very much for this valuable information jambo101 and KP$!

It seems not always having a combo with a company is the best deal.

In my case I need a fixed phone line, since I'll be working from home and I make and receive a lot of calls.

Thanks again for your valuable comments!

You most probably got something by now, but I've changed my internet from videotrone to electronicbox recently and saved a lot of money. I am not an expert in Cable or landline but I did extensive research about internet service. The following link pretty much summarize the best options you have: Internet Service in Montreal
