Are there alot of jobs in Montana>? I am looking to one day leave Wisconsin where we have Snow the start of December upon snow until March.. it never melts here and there are no Mountains. We do.. have it easy to get out to stores and malls. I dont want to live in the boonies. A log cabin home would be nice. How is the cost of living and the house prices? The temps in Wisconsin in the winter goes in single digits below zero and windy at times. We had snow for days already. I like snow sometimes. I just wish mother nature .. could take it easy some winters and give us a break . Out of all the states we were recorded last year to have accumulated the most snow total. I was also interested in the fact that Montana has alot of nature and wild life and .. is not.. an at will employment state. The only one left. I had my share of the later. Also.. I googled and it said that there are alot of jobs available and teaching ones as well. I was also considering Alaska or Utah... Polar opposites.. hee hee.... Are there malls and good restraunts? Also..prices? I hate summers.. however the SAD issue can get to you since we have super long winters with no sun. Does Montana get alot of snow consecutively or .. like Colorado does? Are the people friendly>? Here.. they are rude and I moved from living in the East Coast my whole life.. and the people there were very.. rude to one another everywhere you went.. Then.. when I came here.. they were even worse. I could not.. beleive it. My dad .. lived in Texas and everyone was super friendly, helped one another out and in trouble and were proud to call you neighbor. I want my next move to reflect that. So.. I want to choose wisely. I am a risk taker.. but.. I dont want a house in no mans land . I would like things to do and see and so on close by.. food stores and malls. In Wisconsin .. they do not require by law to have car insurance which saves me alot. The driving is spaced out nicely and not many accidents at all. Someone mentioned on here alot of accidents , bad roads that you can get killed on. Is there a way around that>? New Jersey.. had the worse insurance regulations , fees, fines, and inspections. Wisconsin does not have any of that. Please fill me in . Thanks..

If you don't carry insurance b/c it saves you a lot of money, how do you intend to pay for an accident you cause? We have enough irresponsible drivers here in Montana w/o adding you to the list. Winters here are brutal, roads death traps, no jobs, prices high, crime is terrible, and 100% state employment tax. Sheeze. BTW, if winters bother you, perhaps you should scratch Alaska of the move to list.

In reviewing your post, let me see if I have this correct:

* You "don't want to live in the boonies", but "a log cabin would be nice"
* You don't want snow, but you "hate summers"
* You "are a risk taker, but.......
* You perceive Alaska and Utah as "polar opposites"?

Are you beginning to see some paradoxes here? I would suggest you do a lot more research (especially including visits in person) before you decide upon moving to Montana, or anywhere else. Good luck.

And to add to that if you don't want to carry car insurance please don't come at all or if you do be prepared to either A.Pay some hefty fines when you're caught or B.Do some jail time or C. Lose everything when you're sued and have to pay out of your own pocket after an accident or all of the above.

It has not stopped snowing for five days here and I am loving it. If you do come, hope I don't run into you on the road without insurance....you won't like it. Montana does not sound like the place for you. Have you thought about Cali? Oh yeah, I had snow in my yard on the 4th of July and went snowboarding in the backcountry in August. Snow until March??? HaHaHaHa That is the middle of our winter.
