Hello to all u fine people in Montana. I have never been anywhere near your state before and was just curious about what is there to do in Montana? What is the weather like? Do u have all four seasons. What is there for single people to get into? What about night life? What is the best city to visit and why. Are people generally friendly and accepting of outsiders? I live in the southwest and there is not much to tell about where I live. We have one season Hot and dry. I have decided to do some traveling. I am seriously considering Montana and would appreciate any input. Thanks

Montana is a very very large state. I recommend a road trip to see what you think first.

People are very friendly here from what I've experienced. It's just hard to generalize about the whole state.

I will say my favorite towns are Bozeman and Missoula and generally NW Montana. I'll probably get flamed for this though.

Sunqueen, we have 2 seasons, winter and construction No really, we have long winters but wonderful summers (mostly) like yesterday was perfect! As for the best city, it depends on what you are into. If you like hiking, national parks, skiing, boating I would say the flathead. If you are into more metro things I would say Missoula,Great Falls. I don't think MT will be accused of having a jumping singles scene like a lot of other places.

Montana is beautiful, Western Montana has lots of lakes and mountains. There is defently 4 seasons. People are generally friendly, espically if you are just there for a visit. As for night life, there are bars and casinos, but not a lot more. Most people in Montana do have a problem with out siders moving in and raising the prices on all aspects of the cost of living. There have been a lot who have moved in in the past 20 years that have money and do not need to work. But this has caused the cost of living to go up and has hurt the locals. Most locals are hard working, but with the cost of living going up all the time, they can't hardly make ends meet. On the average those in the working class are making min. wages, and only get about 30 hrs. a week. So yes there is problems with others moving into the aeria. As for just visiting, it is a great state to visit and relax in.

I have numerous friends and family who have moved to Montana over the past six to seven years. All of them had no problem at all. They are wonderful people - and their neighbors and coworkers were blessed to have them. They found only delightful people and a new home they love dearly. In many areas, there are so many newcomers that "fitting in" isn't even a problem. Montana is going to continue to grow - as many who have been there for generations once came there because this is a free country, many more will continue to come. Sometimes the "newcomers" end up being some of the best neighbors in town.

lots for singles to do if you stay in a city like Missoula or Bozeman. Billings and Great Falls and Helena are large (relatively speaking), but not that great. Missoula and Bozeman are much more fun. the nightlife is much better in western MT than in eastern, that's for sure!

Missoula has a lot of culture going for it, lots of small local shops and music venues, a few clubs, and some nice restaurants. Bozeman has a fantastic downtown -- safe, full of stores, lit up at night, fantastic views, nice people. Missoula is more of a hippie town, Bozeman is more of a cowboy town.

The weather doesn't suck. It just changes every five minutes.

People in the cities are accepting of outsiders/tourists, but if you go down the valleys (especially the Bitterroot), you will not receive the same smiles and waves. Most of the people waaaaaay out here where I am think that tourist season should give them a license to shoot the tourists.

It's a fun state. You should like it.
