This argument is weak. His fight against Hardy was COMPLETELY one sided. GSP put him in two solid arm submissions and I was beyond surprised Hardy didn't tap out. His arm was twisted the wrong way for a good while.

GSP has become a world class wrestler out of nowhere. If you are the best at a particular aspect, why would you avoid that? That is just stupid. I remember Hardy's pre-fight graphic stated "Has never been taken down". GSP took him down with ease at least 6 times.

GSP is a good striker but there are better. Standing up with Hardy made the fight even and that would be poor logic. Every champ has a boring fight or two where they just want to retain the title and more importantly, win the winners purse. Last time I checked, GSP is still champ and in IMO, the 2nd best champ ever in his class.

the question is, gsp's best part of his game is his ground work and he could not hurt hardy even slightly. the only scratch was from an eye poke, the sub attempts didnt do any damage as evidenced by the athletic commissions lack of even a 2 week suspension to get checked out. IMO he needs to test himself but he avoids that at all costs. he does what works no doubt but that IMO is boring. its like if i went to my jiu jitsu class and submitted every person in there by toehold (my personal fav in sport bjj) and never once tried to choke them. one it would teach the people i roll with to avoid the toehold, but i would not get better. this is what happened to matt hughes, he was good at one thing and never did anything else and now look where he is.

You can't dispute the fact that GSP is a master at taking people down, including those fighters who people feel are very good at avoiding takedowns. I find the sheer skill of that exciting to watch. He also evolves as a fighter, and you can't blame him for using what he does best, gnp. He seems to be a very popular fighter....

Maybe you haven't seen the GSP vs Hardy fight because there was no gnp , all GSP was doing was dry hump Hardy's leg for 5 rounds (ground n hump)

Why should he? He's winning with what he's doing.

Your point? Any fighter can go down from a solid, very lucky punch. GSP proved he was better by returning and destroying Serra.
