I grew up in the SE US and even as a very fit and active little girl I overheated and passed out at least once a summer season. I've grown to dislike heat since then. As for being pasty white, well I prefer my skin non freckled, non burned and untan. I do love the plant life during the other seasons, but I enjoy it while hiding under a giant grandma-esque straw hat.

In 80*F+ you can break a sweat just standing outside in the sun.
In 50*F you can work out side and not be drenched in sweat.

Temps have littel to do with the UVrays.

Around here you see folks in T-shirts and shorts when the temp gets over 45*f

Winter for me....one of the rare ones who loves it below zero with snow on the ground

I can handle one month of this heat and sun but that is about it

I was wondering about those storms too. I saw the radar photos on the NWS Grand Forks FB page and it looked impressive!

I work at NWS Grand Forks..but off for past few days. Dont know if it will be called a dericho ...usually that term is left for long lived wind events (bow echoes) travelling a long distance like the one that went from Illinois and Indiana to D.C. So dont know if the recent one qualifies. My hunch is not quite....

Really strong straight line winds? I remember the derecho that went through MN, WI and MI back in May 1998. I have been through several hurricanes on the east coast but that storm made me cry!

Yes...strong straightline winds. Bow echo appearance on radar....which this was from near Bemidji east toward Duluth. Dericho is just a term to describe a long lived bow echo which travels a very long distance.

I think a compromise would be nice, 70 degrees year round. Southern CA.
