If this keeps up I might have to put the lining in my windbreaker...

Why the smiley face?

It's cold. And dry. Still only 13F at 4:00 PM.

Does anyone have a spare humidifier they wouldn't mind parting with?

I hate this weather...

The cold is refreshing. They started flooding Phalen a few days ago and already two days ago there were kids skating outside.

Worst thing about this right now: I just picked up a new set of irons the other day that I have to stare at for the next 4 months.

Ghengis-

You weren't alive in 1996? January that year was mild (warm)...until late in the month. Tower, MN hit -60F and even MSP hit -35F. Here in LaCrosse we went 5 days without it going above 0F. We finally climbed out of that abyss in early Feb. Winter is FAR from over in 2 weeks.

Feb 3rd was when Tower hit their record low that year...definitely alive and recall that morning vividly, I was kinda excited about it. We actually were colder by 1 degree (-41) here in Chisago Co. the day before which was a Friday and I didn't feel like going into work that day. But...we had gained a whole hour of daylight in the month and-a-half leading up to that day, so we had that goin' for us, which is nice.

btw...4 years later, Tower set a record high when it hit 58 on Feb 26th, Minneapolis hit 64 that day.

Last year this weekend was that big blizzard, 24" of snow at our house. . Freezing rain possible Sunday and Monday. I would rather have 24" of snow then any freezing rain.

I would rather have freezing rain in the middle of the night, which promptly turned liquid on the surface right in the morning. And then the air temperature would warm up to 55 degrees, and all would be good.

Honestly, I don't like having a dry throat, don't like my transmission running even crappier than it was before, don't like having a cold nose, don't like freezing in 5 seconds whenever I get the mail, etc. I would rather have conditions similar to what we were experiencing in mid-July than what we experienced yesterday. Uncomfortable? Sure. But at least you don't have to buy off-road diesel every other day in a 5 gallon gas tank that you often spill, soiling your clothes and making them smell of diesel.

Ghengis-1996 was ugly... My truck was frozen solid. I think 2000? we never went below 0F in LaCrosse the whole winter....unbelievable. I also was on the Mississippi River in late Feb in my boat. Early March it hit 80F in LaCrosse and I was in shorts and a tshirt on my boat. SO yes,,,it can go both ways.

You guys remember last year when people were falling off their rooves because they were trying to get the snow off? What a mess. I heard about some dude (i have friends in the Cities) with a snowblower on his roof. Good year for orthopedic surgeons...
