Does it cost a lot of money to live in Minneapolis? I think about living there someday if I decide I like it after visiting at least once.

Depends on what you think is "a lot." It's not the cheapest city out there, but it's not the most expensive, either. I happen to think it offers a lot in return for the price (yet remains doable for the average middle class individual or family), but others disagree.

The midwest as a whole is fairly affordable.

What's your frame of reference for cheap?

1 BR 1 BA 3 Blocks from Pacific Ocean in San Diego= $1400/mo

1 BR 1 BA 3 Blocks from nowhere in MPLS < $1400/mo.

You get what you pay for. MPLS is a tad bit more expensive than your run of the mill midwest town, but more affordable than most major cities across the USA.

I have only lived in Minneapolis for about 2 years now....have come to idea that the little extra I pay in property taxes and slightly larger property tax is just an extra fee for being closer to things and able to enjoy more free activities…(i.e. the lakes)

Where do you get your information? I seriously doubt that an apartment in San Diego that is that close to the ocean goes for $1400-unless it is in a ghetto. San Diego is one of the most expensive places to live in the nation.

Use a website like this one and you can compare the cost of living in Minneapolis to the city you're currently living in or another city:

Minneapolis is much cheaper than places on either coast and slightly cheaper than Chicago but obviously more expensive than most smaller towns in the midwest.

my friends who live there. it was in Pacific Beach. near Garnet Avenue and Feldspar.

I wouldn't lie, and I certainly wouldn't manufacture stories over the internet.

Actually my cousins live there, but not at the $1400 place. The $1400 place is where we visited one of his friends, and it was nothing pretty. I mean nice area, but nothing great. It was extremely small, just a living room, kitchen and bedroom attatched to a bathroom.

You seriously think that a 300 sq ft 1 BR 1/2 BA in San Diego would go for more than $1400 a month? It's not like San Diego is Monaco.
