There's townhouse, condos, and apartments within 500 ft of the building, but I have no clue who rents or rents short term. Stay away from University Ave area to the south of the work. Farther west of University is Summit and Grand Ave which are both nice old areas. It would be easier if you found a particular place and asked if it was nice or bad.

I would also look a couple miles north of Bandanna Square in the suburbs of: Roseville , Falcon Heights , and Lauderdale all of which are just on the other side of Como Park, the MN State Fairgrounds and the University of Minnesota- St. Paul campus. Safe well maintained area's with great bus service to Bandanna Square.
