Love how the chair of the Metro Council hopes to settle the SWLRT with a wink and a nod. Just the way democracy is meant to work. The planning process for the rail line is looking like a joke, so they are hoping nothing drags it any more into the open.

Hey, drivers. A glimmer of hope. Some road projects are winding down. The going is good in metro area for holiday getaway | Star Tribune

Be more interesting to know about the things on 169 and 494. Those have really hosed up traffic in the SW sector of the metro all summer.

In residential neighborhoods why do people need to drive at deadly speeds in the first place? Same with business districts full of pedestrians, cyclists, and duh, businesses. If you have no intention of going to a business on Lyndale/Hennepin/Nicollet/etc don't get honky with me because you want a business district to function like a highway, which is really stupid and not surprisingly, unrealistic. I for one am using it because I want to patronize a restaurant/bar/coffee shop/shop/grocery store/clothing store/etc.

As for the SW line, having stations out in the middle of nowhere just doesn't make sense. Although they are trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, LRT can be forced onto suburban areas, but it'll just never come close to the ridership it gets in urban areas. It's urban transportation and should be implemented as such. LRT out into the burbs always made as much sense to me as making urban areas car-dependent.

Instead of extending rails into the suburbs, I'd love to see a focus on suburb-to-suburb bus routes. I think one should be able to bus from Saint Louis Park to Edina without having to stop downtown to transfer.

They actually don't realize that a lot of the people who work out in the suburbs (like the Golden Triangle area) actually live in the area that they are skipping. The line really should go to the suburbs, but go through the areas where people live who work there. It's common sense, but they are trying so hard to make it so cheap and easy (if any of the current proposals can even be considered cheap anymore).

Anybody seen their commute speed up lately? Just wondering. Maybe it will be a few more weeks.

Are you paranoid about transportation in the Twin Cities?

My commute was never slow but just scary, it's bumper to bumper but the flow of traffic is going about 60 mph
