I moved here recently and like it here a lot, except the pizza here sucks. I have yet to find a good pizza. I am looking for a New York style and places around don't seem to know how-to make good pizza. People here need to raise their standards. At least I found a place that makes good bagels; Brueggers.

Mesa's pizza in dinkytown has some pretty good pizza in my opinion. Might not be "New York style" but they have alot of very good specialty pizzas.

I was bored and did a search for you. Have you tried this place?

BlackSheep Coal Fired Pizza 512 N Robert St St. Paul, MN 55102

Supposed to be the closest to New York style pizza you can get around the Twin Cities area. I've never personally tried it though.

Never been to new york, but I love Chicago's pizza, and the closest I could find in Minnesota is a place called Tommy Chicagos.

There is a Tommy Chicago in Mendota Heights, Eagan and West Saint Paul.

PLEASE try Davanni's! My favorite place for pizza or garlic bread or garlic cheese bread. The best one is located on the East side of St Paul.

ENJOY!

Good pizza is really subjective, not only due to personal taste, but also because of the different styles (which is why all these random recommendations aren't necessarily going to help you any).

I'm not much of a New York-style pizza fan (even having had it in NYC), so I'm afraid I can't help you there. I'm a Chicago deep-dish guy myself, and my current favorite around here is Psycho Suzi's in Northeast.

Where is the Tommy Chicago's in Eagan? I've only heard of the one in Mendota Heights. I haven't tried them, but I want to.

Check out this article:

The Twin Cities' Best Pizza - Minnesota Monthly - March 2013 - Minneapolis, St. Paul, Minnesota

For some reason we're receiving in the mail the print edition of this magazine. I've lived in the Twin Cities since 1996 and hadn't tried a single restaurant on their list (except Dulono's, which is good). But a couple weeks ago we tried Broadway Pizza (the original one near Broadway and I-94). It was really damn good. We just got a simple sausage and onion thin crust. Their beer selection is respectable. The building itself is kind of a late-70s time capsule, especially the lower level. Kind of a fun place.

My such a warm and polite request! Despite the insult, I will recommend these places.

Punch Neapolitan Pizza
Pizzeria Lola - Wood Fired Artisan Pizza - Southwest Minneapolis/Edina, Minnesota

Black Sheep is very good, too. All serve good Neopolitan style pizza. You'll like them if you've managed to raise your standards from that cardboard and ketchup stuff they serve in New York. If not, I recommend the frozen foods aisle of your local supermarket.

Just curious, where did you try so far? Pizza in Minnesota is not going to be at the NY level, but it's actually among the better states when it comes to pizza, and this is coming from somebody who tries pizza everywhere he travels!

My personal favorites are:

Davanni's (traditional thin)
Green Mill (Chicago-style deep dish is best there)
Fireside Pizza (Chicago-style, cracker thin pizza)
Lola/Punch/Black Sheep (neapolitan NY style, brick-oven)

Start with those and if you still can't find something, there's still hope, as there's a TON of good pizza places throughout town. But your pizza happiness may be in jeopardy at this point.

Please keep us posted if you end up trying some of these new places. Your happiness is my priority!
