I am a former Minnesota resident looking to relocate back to Minnesota, but I'll be bring with me my son (age 12) who has autism. He functions at a high level --- currently mainstreamed with pullout services.

I'm looking for a suburb south or west of the twin cities that has the best opportunities for him. I probably can't afford Edina or Plymouth. I was thinking more along the lines of Eden Prairie, Lakeville, Apple Valley, Rosemount, or Burnsville.

Can anyone provide any information on my situation --- I know this a popular topic, but the posts I've seen are several years old, and I'm hoping to get an update.

Thanks.

I would scratch Burnsville off your list, Lakeville has been having some serious budget issues but they are still good schools. The Rosemount/Eagan/Apple Valley schools have a very strong special ed program so you really can't go wrong there. Eden Prairie is just huge and expensive so if you can't afford Plymouth, EP is going to be out of your range too.

Where will you be working?
