Drinkable?

I am spoiled with really good well water right now, so the thoughts of fluoridaded city water kind of grosses me out.

What do you think of the water in your area? Is it different from one treatment plant to the next? Better in the suburbs? Better in one city vs. the other? Barely drinkable? Wonderful?

Do tell.

When I lived in Richfield I had no problem drinking it. Although I am also a broke college kid and didn't really have much else to drink. I don't know anything about the tap water in the rest of the metro and I've also never had the luxury of well water.

It may taste funny at first, but you will get used to it eventually, and then if you ever try your well water again, than that will taste funny. It's how it works lol

City water is fine. Don't be frightented that the tap water in Minneapolis, St. Paul and several nearby suburbs comes from treated water from the Mississippi River, it isn't as bad as it sounds. I do recommend using a Purina or Brita filtered water pitcher just to be on the safe side though, at least that's what we do along with several other people I know who live in the city.

I plan on getting a reverse osmosis filter eventually to remove the sodium fluoride and other chemicals, but until then, I don't drink tap water. fluoridealert.org/fluoride-dangers/health/index.aspx

MPLS has one of the top rated tap water in the nation. I never had problem drinking it and specially I appreciate now even more since Hopkins water is really horrible. When trying to make a tea with, it turns the tea to really disgusting color and it will have oily substrate on top. If you leave the water on stove long enough for the water to evaporate you will see borwninish miniral deposit/resedue...and Im not a chemist but If I have to guess, it smells like sulfer to me.
So yeah MPLS has got great water!!

By the way I live at the border of SLP/Hopkins and not sure which well the water is coming from.

Fluoride adds no taste to the water.

Off the top of my head - St. Louis Park has really horrible water.

Plymouth has "bad" water too. It is so artificially soft - I used to get more dehydrated the more that I drank.

P.S. I LOVE tap water. I drink lots of it!

Really? I would have thought otherwise.

Compared to tap water from places like Missouri and Mississippi, it is delicious.
