There's also an AMC theater in Coon Rapids off Hwy 10 and Foley.

(BTW...GolfGal's day in Coon Rapids is probably over by now).

Nope, going tomorrow (Monday).

Thanks for the ideas. I gave the list to the girls, we will see what they pick.

Well, that would cross off Tower Days, the Velodrome racing, and hockey tournament (all on Sunday). Q Fanatic and Yes and Food are closed on Monday as well.

There's a couple of mini-amusement parks in Coon Rapids: Grand Slam and Lilli Putt. I haven't been to either for a few years, but they were both a bit run down (can be charming to the right person, I guess). Lilli Putt has mini golf, go carts, and bumper boats. Grand Slam is indoors and has mini-golf, arcade games, smallish bumper cars, laser tag, batting cages.

I'm moving to the border of Anoka and Coon Rapids in ~2 weeks, so keep the suggestions coming, it all sounds fantastic. Especially criminally good dessert

NO--that was on the top of MY list of things to do--I love BBQ.

Go-carting is on the list-even before I started this thread.

There is some batting cages at http://grandslamcoonrapids.com/ as well as indoor mini-golf, laszer tag etc. The food is weak but it's fun.

Maple Grove has http://www.prokartindoor.com/photogallery.htm . That Grand Slam USE to have those carts indoor as well but I think they pulled them.

I have not been here since 2008 or 2009 but Gasoline Alley in Blaine had high performance go carts (per google) 612-784-7223.

If you ever get out here again, Q's is RIGHT over the Champlin Bridge. You MUST get the vegetables! I skip my veggies too often but those are positively to die for. I've never had anything like them before. They are smoked with a blast of flavor and browned edges. I suspect I could only eat them without any meat. I'm thinking of catering with Q's on my Son's grad party in 2012. They charge way to little for the quality of food that they serve.

Speaking of BBQ, they just put in a Dickey's off of 10 and Round Lake Boulevards. Check your Happenings / Entertainment book as they have a buy one get one free. It is very good but it's expensive for semi-fast food.

You are going to love that desert shop. I ordered up some deserts for my company party and they were a huge hit. They only use the best supplies. A couple years back I gave a torte assortment to a supplier who once lived in Switzerland. She said it was the 1st time she tasted quality chocolate in the States.

Now that I bragged it up it might not meet the same level as you are anticipating. So in order for you to enjoy it, I'll just say it's "pretty good". They also serve gormet coffee and it is in a lovely setting.

I'm pretty sure Gasoline Alley has been closed for some time. Or maybe they moved?

There's also a new bbq place in Blaine in what used to be Sassy Pig (off Radisson Road). Not sure if it's open yet.

Other things in the Coon Rapids vicinity (not necessarily for Monday):
1) Eidem Farm, smallish historical farm in Brooklyn Park
2) Kelley Farm, larger historical farm near Elk River
3) There's (dinner?) theater at the clubhouse in Bunker Hills.
4) Minnesota Stars, professional soccer at National Sports Center
5) Random events at the National Sports Center: there have been world championships in broomball, ultimate frisbee, and probably other things. The U.S. Women's hockey team for teh 2010 olympics trained there and did events from time to time. You can watch lacrosse or rugby. The velodrome has local racing every Thursday night (and other events). There's the occassional concert.
6) Bauer Berry Farm, pick-your-own place in Champlin
7) Goose Lake Farm and Winery, in Elk River
8) 3M Championship, PGA Champions event, free admission, at TPC in Blaine
9) Running Aces, casino with horse track in Columbus
