I'll be moving to Minneapolis and have made the decision not to buy or use a car. I've been doing various MetroTransit trips, and it indicates that a bus trip from Uptown or the Warehouse District (where I'm planning to live) to South Minneapolis, around Loring Park (where I'll work) at 6:30 AM takes around 20-25 minutes.

For those of you who have used or use public transportation, how reliable are bus arrival times, especially during the winter?

Thanks!

Bus times are generally pretty good. There's been a few times I've had to stand there longer than expected, but most of the time they run when they're supposed to.

It will be even less of an issue going from the Warehouse District or Uptown to Loring Park, as you'll have multiple bus options to choose from and the frequency is relatively high. Even if your regular bus IS running late, there will be others coming right behind.

I just started using the bus service from where I live (near Southdale) to downtown (where I work) and I LOVE it! It's SO efficient (time and money)! And I don't have to walk far from either destination (although I do live in a very large apartment building and I work in the middle of downtown).
