My family is going to be moving to the Minneapolis area (from Duluth) probably next spring. We are pretty confident we want to live within the Wayzata school district, either Plymouth or S. Maple Grove. Our son will have just turned 4, and we will have a newborn. My question is about the Wayzata school district. We have heard so many good things from the Bright Starts program to the high school. Has anybody had kids in the district? What are the school programs? How are different groups perceived? What do the kids do for fun outside of school? Is the school all it's cracked up to be? Any comments would be appreciated

Wayzata schools are very good. The high school is HUGE but hopefully by the time your kids are in high school that won't be the case. It is a pretty wealthy area and there is a lot of keeping up with the Jones' attitudes but if that doesn't bother you then it isn't an issue.

Why do you say that shouldn't be an issue about size in the future? Are they planning to build another high school?

I would think that eventually they would have to, it is the second largest high school in the state right now-graduating close to 1000 kids/grade. I don't know of any plans right now but in 10 years that can all change.

The high school is small college sized. HUGE. With housing slowing (new building) I'm guessing that the population isn't going to grow enough to warrant another high school for some time.
