So I moved to Texas 8 years ago after graduating b/c of my mother's job. I LOVE TEXAS!!!! I don't think I would move back up there because I have acclimated to the weather and all my fmaily has spread to other places as well. BUT...there are several things you guys are SO lucky to have!!! 1. Festivals!!!! Man I miss the State Fair and Summer Fest, Asian Moon, Indian Summer, Mexican Fiesta etc etc etc.... Just don't have that down here. I'm 1/2 Mexican and 1/2 White but down here all the fests in San Antonio are geared towards the hispanic heritage. It's nice but up there is so more diverse. 2. Food!!! All the cows down here are like fried on the inside b/c of the heat!!! LOL!!!! I mean Texas can make some meaaaan BBQ don't get me wrong but I miss all the rich food from up north. Custard (this is a plea to Robert's or Kopp's to send a chain down here especially for me lol), Suzy's cream cheese, Usinger's mmmmmm.... getting hungry!!! 3. Lake Michigan...ok so it's not the cleanest or prettiest beach in the U.S. but I miss having a big body of water around that you can't see the other side of!!!!! 4. Seasons!!!! I miss the transition between fall and winter. Here it's hot hot hot HOTTER, cold for like 2 weeks. And everything dies and falls off. No change in the leaves, no knowing that it is fall because it's colder, here still in December you have your warm days! It get's to about freezing, thats why we don't have snow, just bad ice storms...and these people need a good salt truck!!! 5. The East Side... I miss you!!!!!!!!!! I miss the short but nice summers(July-Sept). ...That much of the upper middle class and above was still pretty down to earth and casual about a lot of things...Marquette basketball games...some of the festivals and block parties...compact size and ease of getting around(though not a fan of lack of the public transit)...the urban neighborhoods...the Lakefront views and ease of proximity...the increasing development in its urban areas in recent years....the layout and amount of offerings for a smaller city of its size...among other things.
