I lived in SE Wisconsin, mainly Port Washington with a short time in Sheboygan (ugh!) prior to that and now live in Florida. I've lived elsewhere, such as San Francisco, Indiana, Boston, and even a few short stints overseas.

Understand that no location is perfect, everything requires compromise. The one thing I've always told people about living in Wisconsin is that the quality of life is better there than anywhere else I have lived so far. There's plenty to do, the climate is nice and varied, the people are great and the cost of living for the most part is reasonable.

I'm in Florida not necessarily by choice but due to family. Given the choice, I would return to Wisconsin in a heartbeat. Yes, the winters can be brutal, but just like Florida summers, you deal with it through accommodations like how you dress or where you spend your time.

There are so many great areas around Milwaukee to live the choices are almost unlimited. If I return some day I'll probably return to the Port Washington area, as it's the most familiar to me and an area I really like.

Good luck!

RM

Very well said! I love WI and have adopted it as my home state, even though I was born and raised in the South! I think the people are the best in the country (and I have lived in a lot of places). Additionally, it's a beautiful state, and, like you said, it has a very high quality of life. I've always told my husband that if I were to have all of the money in the world and could live anywhere in the world, I would choose WI.

Today it's going to be in the 90's in NC. UGH! I hate this. Fall is nowhere to be seen! The peak leaf report on the local news has us experiencing peak foliage in MID NOVEMBER! The past 2 years we have been here the trees start blooming around Valentine's Day! And the bugs.........

Pray I get out of here soon! I have tried for over 2 years to like it here, but I don't. And, I don't think I ever will no matter how hard I try!

Now, back to the original topic: Anyone know anything about Enderis Park outside of Wauwatosa? I am zeroing in on Wauwatosa, but the Enderis Park area looks so charming from what I can tell. Unfortunately, the taxes in Milwaukee look a lot higher, so any thoughts on that is appreciated.

Thanks to all who have responded.

Enderis Park is an enclave basically, according to my friends who are Tosa natives. Sounds nice on paper at least-

Thanks for the info. Yes, I saw this over the weekend, which heartened me and peaked my interest. After doing a search on crime, I was a little more concerned, though. There was a few shootings in the area. However, after living in St. Louis recently, I go between concern and being numb (you know, thinking that happens everywhere). I have read that Milwaukee, like St. Louis, has a pretty bad crime problem. In St. Louis it is concentrated for the most part, but it's also everywhere. Here in Charlotte it is much more concentrated. What about Milwaukee, is it concentrated or everywhere?

Thanks for the insight!

Crime in Milwaukee is pretty concentrated, at least more so than many places I can think of.
