I recently was chosen for a job with the Dept of Veterans Affairs in northwest Battle Creek. I am currently living in the Cleveland, Ohio area and am pretty clueless about western Michigan. I'm a 25 year old man, and a college graduate. Where should I look at locating, I don't want to be out of the city life, but I also need it to be safe. I've been up there an looked around KZoo, but I'm afraid I don't know just how bad the winters are, and how bad the traffic is on 94.

Any ideas?

The VA is sort of inbtw Kazoo and BC, maybe a little closer to BC if I remember right. I lived in BC from 93-2003. Being 25 I'd recommend Kazoo as having a lot more to offer someone your age. Plus its that much closer to Lake Michigan in the summer. The highway part of the commute won't be significantly different depending on where you live in Kazoo. So I'd start a new thread - where to live in Kazoo and have access to 25 year old interests with a commute to the VA in mind.
I lived in Cleveland for a year in the early 80s. I liked it. I suspect you might miss it. Oh and winters aren't appreciably worse so if you drove in Cleveland it won't be too much different.

I'd definitely recommend living in Kazoo as well. I graduated from WMU, and loved my time there. It's a really fun town.

Default Definitely

For someone your age that is interested in night life, etc., I would definitely recommend living in Kzoo and commuting. The rush hour on 94 gets frustrating between BC and Kzoo - however, there are back ways should the roads get bad (and they do..lake effect) so that you wouldn't necessarily have to travel 94 if the weather conditions were bad. Since where you will be driving is the more western side of BC...if you lived on the Eastern side of Kzoo...the commute/time would be nothing at all!!

Not a lot in the way of culture and night life in BC...Also if you want decent shopping and more than just a few of the bigger chain restaurants to choose from, Kzoo is where everyone goes.
