Fall is a gorgeous season statewide. The peak ranges from late September in the U.P. to mid and late October in the southern LP, to late October along the waters edge.

My question is mainly to those up north. Have you noticed any early fall color? Here it is August 20th and Ive noticed numerous trees down here in the southern part of the state getting hints of color. Nothing full-blown color (except the browning of the horse chestnuts, but that is always early), but many trees with tints of gold and red. Wonder if such a cool summer (the past 2 weeks notwithstanding) has anything to do with it?

Saw some trees changing already up in the thumb this past weekend. Thought to myself the same thing...too early. Nice to see though.

Some years are just plain weird. I remember being in the U.P. in mid-October and everything was still green. That was once.

Of course, I've been there on Memorial Day and there was still snow on the ground in some places.

I would say it's "normal" to see a little color right now. Have the maples started yet? When ya start to see that bright yellow, you know it's comin' soon.....

I'm already seeing some hints of color here in South Bend. I think the cool summer does have something to do with it, however, it is somewhat normal.
