Was looking at some property online in UP of Michigan and listing said that the property bordered "CFR land." Can anyone tell me what that is?

Thanks

CFR stands for commercial forest reserve. It essentially means the land will not be developed in the future. I believe the timber rights belong to the state, but the land is technically owned by a private owner. The state could harvest the timber in the future, but it rarely happens in the UP. It's a great selling point for property that is located adjacent to CFR land.

Hey Jules thanks for the info. Does the public have access to CFR land?

CFR=code of federal regulations, but can be various codes within that...appears that some of them relate to disposal of waste, some to preservation of indian land, and other things I saw. Try googling the exact CFR words and the code number together,if it lists them....
