I don't think so. I seem to remember them from years ago in the Detroit area, but Meijer pretty much dominates now (at least the West side of the State).

Unfortunately, "Giantway" (later known as "Giant") is gone. Glen's Supermarkets bought them. Probably a good thing since Giantway soon became known as Junkway - they got lax and after 1990 went downhill and fast. I did like the place, though. We shopped there all the time when I was a little kid spending summers in Petoskey. Ah, good times, good times.

We had one near my house. It was called Giant Foods (or maybe Food Giant???). It became a Spartan store and is now a Family Dollar. Also had an A&P (now a Big Lots) and a Chathams (now a Value World).

I guess people stopped eating food in favor of cheap Chinese-made merchandise.

They used to have one in Petoskey and Traverse City. My grandparents used to take us to the Petoskey one for yard toys when I was little. We went to the TC one about 1990 for a tarp to cover the tent since we were getting rained on at Jellystone. The store probably didn't last much longer than that.

I've only ever seen Giantway. But the commercials and advertiser papers always said 4 stores.. Giantway, Giant, Midway... and I forget the other one.

let's see if I can remember, Giant,Giantway,Midway Hmmm if I remember another name I will post it. I used work for Giant/Giantway stores and
the Giant food stores btw are not the same company there from the southern states. the Giant stores of Michigan closed because the Original owner who died had a very selfish son and just decided to sell the stores
rather than try and keep theem going. please keep in mind the original owner was prety good and knew how to do business. a lot of my former customers from Giantway Tc were and still are very sad to see that Giantway is gone forever.

Giant is still quite big in many states. One group (simply Giant) is in DC, Maryland and Virginia. Another spinoff (Giant Foods) is in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, New York, New Jersey) and yet another is Giant Eagle which is in western Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh) and NE Ohio (Cleveland).

I did some digging and I'm pretty sure this was it. Don't know why I couldn't find this when I looked earlier. Now I read it, it does sound familiar. The 4th one was Ray's. The commercials and papers used to say Giantway, Giant, Midway, and Ray's. I remember the 4 isometric block images with the names of the stores on them in all caps, arranged in a 2+2 pattern.
