You could try Pinkney or Hell. A bit of a run to Ann Arbor but not too far. lots of land out there, not sure what the cost is. Pinkney has pretty good schools. I do not know what school district hell is in, it does not have its own schools.

Milan area has some big farm properties for cheap (ish). There are some pretty good school districts out there too, depending on where you end up.

Also look at that little township just north of Tecumseh. I can never remember the name.

Maybe down in Monroe County, Dundee perhaps?

You already have a lot of really good suggestions above. I am just trying to give you some alternatives to consider.

Pinckney

And Hell is in Pinckney schools, but it's right at the confluence of Dexter, Chelsea, and Pinckney schools. But south, east and west of the village is Pinckney Rec area (Halfmoon Lake and Silver Lake are very nice lakes!). In the 90s, we did summer cross country "practice" on the trails starting at Silver Lake.

It is funny how many Silver lakes there are in Michigan. Many of the kids I went to high school with (South Lyon) live on Silver lake. There are to others in SE Michigan I have run across and another on the west side.

A lot of people who live there seem to pronounce it Pick ney. Trying to spell it always annoyed me. I used to work at Lakelands country club back before time began. Is it still there?

Maybe embarrassed by their misuse of "advise" for advice. No one said anything, but they may have realized it and decided not to return.
