We live not far from Frankenmuth, and the chicken dinners at the Inn are okay. We have taken a horse drawn carriage at Christmas, attended the farmers market at the other end of town (with organic produce!), gone to Jaami's Ice cream shop (very good), visited N'Orlins Beignets (not bad coffee) and Bronners (which around Christmas you have to fight your way through crowds). They also have an organic grocery store (Healthy Habitz 4 Life). Years ago we went to a German restaurant but I don't think it's there any more. More than you wanted to know but wanted to add in case you had extra time to do something else.

Sign up for Zehnder's reward card and get a FREE family style chicken dinner during the month of your birthday. My wife and I both have birthdays in the same month and we've been doing this for over 20 years!

We haven't been to Frankenmuth since the mid 60's and the memory has faded. All I remember is the wasteful amounts of food put on the tables for even a family with two small children. Most likely next fall we will pass through on the way to the UP and see about a fried chicken meal. That is what we had the last time and they must have brought 20 pieces for 2 adults and 1 two year old.

Don't order "Family Style" next time. Just order individual chicken dinners.

Isn’t that what carry out boxes are for? We always bring it home and have lunch for the next day. I feel it helps us get our money’s worth.

Frankenmuth is amazing! I've always been to the Bavarian Inn. Zehnders is supposed to be just as good or some say better, and some say Bavarian Inn is better. I guess just personal opinion. I love Bavarian Inn too much, no matter how many times I've thought about trying somewhere else, just can't. Love the Bavarian Inn.

Check out Kerrs Sausage, and the Cheese Haus. And of course Bronners. Frankenmuth is wonderful all the time but especially this time of year. Maybe you'll get lucky enough to get up there when its snowing.

I hope so. I hated heavy lake effect snow in the 60's when I had to drive in it everyday. Now I can hold up and enjoy it. I want to see all the beautiful places I didn't when we lived thee. And we will do Bavarian when passing through. I had looked it up a year or so ago to be ready for the stop. A simple plate meal will suffice for us now we know what to expect.

"Kerns" Sausage, not Kerrs... BEST Summer Sausage in the world.

kerns sausage – - kerns sausage
