Per article at:

Imprisoned by costs - mlive.com

"The annual cost per prisoner in Michigan is $30,555. Compare that to Indiana's $20,294, or any other neighboring state, where the price is considerably lower. The primary reason for that number, according to the Senate analysis, is wages and benefits for corrections workers."

--------------
Just like teacher healthcare benefits, state employee healthcare is destroying the state financially. Yet I personally don't blame those state workers who actually have decent coverage at lower prices, unlike the private sector workers. I blame the completely out of control, twice the rate of inflation healthcare costs that have been skyrocketing for over 20 years. Simply put, "coverage" isn't the problem, lack of competition, no open price quotes (like car repair state laws require), price gouging, overpaid doctors (the ones with 3 million dollar "offices"), and the dozens of other financial issues that have Americans on their knees. And what do we get...a soon to be nationalized healthcare system that will ultimately provide the final death blow to the heads of every wage slave working stiff at the expense of those who care not to work and live instead off entitlements or who would rather come here illegally and mooch off of legalized Americans. Like I said, "coverage" isn't the issue in America...healthcare "COSTS" is the real issue at hand.

And before you stand up and cheer at the next presidential debate when someone mentions "mandated healthcare for the uninsured"...just realize that the working stiffs will be footing the bill, and if not it will be the federal government going trillions of dollars further in debt, so in truth you are destroying your childrens future instead. Ain't that "healthy"...

Any economist will tell you life involves trade-offs. A critical mass of the people are now willing to make the trade-off of "universal health care" for "continual war".
