I'm helping my recent college graduate find an apartment in Kzoo or Portage. It just seems that from the drive-bys we've done, that the ones in her price range seems a bit run down or trashy. Perhaps we haven't seen enough? She's hoping for her own studio or 1-bedroom for $650 or less. Any suggestions? She works in Portage and would like a less than 30 minute commute.

Coopers Landing on G Ave. is a good one. Definitely not a college apartment or trashy and loud. The apartments that have their own garage are very well insulated and quiet. Spruce Creek would be ideal for someone working in Portage. its on Kenmure off Centre. Its well maintained and mostly professionals live there.

Stay away from the college apartments on Drake, W. Michigan, or W. Main. Its mostly college students or young losers that live in those. They do not care about quiet time or respecting neighbors. They drink, they smoke, they play loud music at all hours. Don't even consider it.

Going to second Spruce Creek, I know it's a pretty good place, plus it's in Portage.
