Imagine if Mackinaw City/St. Ignace was the capital of Michigan. It would be a cool symbolic city uniting the two peninsulas. I know people downstate are going to go ballistic because the bulk of the population lives downstate. But I think that it would be such a cool place to have a capital city. Or in the alternative, on Higgins Lake. Although I live in Metro Detroit, I think that it is so patently unfair that the Upper Peninsula is so far away from Lansing. Any thoughts?

In the late 1800s, the state capital almost got moved to the U.P.

I vote for Wolverine, MI as the new capital. It is more centrally located and it would be perfect for the Wolverine State.

PS, this has nothing to do with MSU vs U of M. Don't even think about hijacking. Resist the urge.
