Are Michigan lighthouse open all year long?
Are they open during certain hours of the day?
Is there anyone there who maintains it and/or admits people in them?
Do any charge a fee?
Which one is the nicest?
Thanks if anyone knows the answers to these questions.

The two in this area that are open for tours are only open during the summer months. There is a small fee and they are maintained by a group that takes care of 4 lighthouses. When they are open there is someone there to answer questions and show you around if you want. They are volunteers for the two in the Ludington area and the ones at Big Sable Point Lighthouse stay right there for a week or two at a time. There is a sign-up list somewhere on the net to put your name on the list for the "lightkeeper" job during the summer. I have often thought that it would be a blast to spend a week at the Big Sable Light and answer questions and show people around for a few hours a day.

Thanks so much. On another note, I always thought it would be great if a Michigan had a Marathon or a bike tour which included going from lighthouse to lighthouse (not sure if that would be practical).

there are hundreds of lighthouses in Michigan (more than ANY other state) and each is unique.

Try this: Michigan
