Only one shooting took place in Wixom, while most of them have been in/around Brighton, which most wouldn't consider part of Metro Detroit either (Wixom just barely).

I guess because it was related to shootings, and thus automatically associated with Detroit, right?
Initial reports in the national corporate media were calling them "more Detroit shootings", then they changed it afterwards. Of course the original stories stuck.
There is no "journalism" in today's major media.

No one's picking on Detroit. Wixom and Brighton ARE part of the metro area. Ask the mod to move it if it bothers you so much.

They sure are. Hang out by eastbound I-96 on any weekday morning and watch the sea of headlights.

I don't get why they call him the i-96 shooter since very few of the shootings were ON 96.View updated map of I-96 corridor gunman shootings | MLive.com From what I understand more are on Wixon Rd. This just irritates me.

It's more catchy than "the guy who is shooting at people on random roads in between Lansing and Detroit".

Whatever. Try living in some of the border towns of Mexico, or in the Uganda. Studies I've seen show that the globe is at one of its all time lows for wars and atrocities.

A suspect is in custody. Let's hope it's the perp.

Problem is, no one outside of Michigan has heard of Brighton or Wixom, let alone Wixom Road.

The Michigan serial highway shooter sounds good to me.

How about "Inmate 39824"? Not picky about the number, either. Choose your own.

The maniac doesn't deserve a catchy handle. He deserves to pay for being a cowardly menace to society......and he will.
