We're moving from Royal Oak to the Sterling Heights/Warren area. Does anyone know about the schools/neighborhoods in these areas? We're looking at an apt at 14 and Schoenherr area. Thanks!

The schools are pretty good out there. If you move to Warren try to stay clear of 9 mile....its just like Detroit....and I say that because a lot of people are afraid of Detroit. I would actually go with Sterling Heights, but both are good areas.

I live in SH near Utica...Utica Schools are great. I don't have children, but I do pay attention to the schools and such for resale issues of my home.

I enjoy the Lakeside area because everything is so convenient for errands, shopping, etc.

We've lived here almost 8 years. We tested the commute for my husband and we did find the 5 miles difference between Warren and Sterling Heights did make a difference in rush hour. It took an extra 20-25 minutes to go up Schoenherr from 13 mile to M-59 (equivalent to 20 Mile Rd. LOL). Now, it only take hubby 20-30 minutes to get to Auburn Hills, so for us, it was a big deal, but it may not be for you. If you need to be near 1-696 then it is great to live in Warren area...It can take 30 minutes or more in rush hour to get from M-59 to 696, depending on weather and traffic, time of year, etc.
