We are also looking at Traverse City or the U.P..specifically Marquette. My wife and I just got back from a weekend in Traverse City, and even though we LOVE the U.P....I think this trip cemented our love for TC. We had an absolutely awesome time, and winter in the Traverse area is just amazing and beautiful! The summer is nuts up there, but in winter the pace is slower...but not dead, and still very exciting. There are many little towns that are close to TC...and still very much in touch with nature throughout the whole area.

If your going to work in Canada why not live there too? One friend who lives close to Tronto likes it and says the worst thing is getting in to see a doctor, since they have a national health program and people don't seem to put off seeing a doctor like here when you have to pay big office calls. another friend lived in Michigan for 40 years of his life. Moved to North Dakota for a job in the oil fields. A month latter he moved across the border into SK. He says the worst thing is regustering his hunting guns that he doesn't have time to use any way now.
I'd move there in a minute if some one ever buys us out.
