Just curious as to what the correct information is
I must admit , the " mega Mall" thing was my idea. What I was referring to was the size of the Stores in sq. ft... and maybe reading more into the story than is truth..I read the same as you in the Mining Journal report , yesterday.
My other source ( where I was told that 3 large Department Stores were already scheduled to build , and the sq. ft. was huge, ), I can not disclose , because of personal reasons . There has been a" bidding war" going on on this property, for over 3 years now, and , Lowe's is a part of it...thats all I can say at this time.
I guess the real truth will come when the stores in question come forward and announce it. Still , you never know , Tractor Supply pulled their plans to build there , so , until I see it , I won't' believe it.

Yeah I read the news about the library's national recognition too. It is awarded top 5 because of its contribution and importance to the community. As someone consideirng moving to Marquette, I have to say this library indeed is a big draw for me. When I found out about all the workshops and activities held there(including the Arts and Culture Center), I began to daydreaming living lose to it or even walking distance. :-)

The Library is downtown , which is another consideration , however , housing is expensive, mostly condos, and they are building more and more. The harbor is a great place to hang out, if , you can afford it. ( Not a lot different than any other city where the downtown borders the lake and harbors). As far as restaurants , Elizabeth's is the top of the list. Big city dining in a small urban setting in a restored office bldg.w/ a view of the lake.Went there last week...best steak in town ! ( pricey). All the really good eating places with atmosphere are down town , and there are quite a few you can walk too.

Dreamsailor~ The East Side is close to the downtown and 3rd st village district which are all within walking distance. The condo development is happening on the waterfront. It is a bit more to live on the east side but it pays for itself in lifestyle (if you are the walking/biking type) and home value retention. But there are lots of nice neighborhoods in marquette. When you two are up here be sure to go down to lower harbor park and grab a drink at Latitudes or the Landmark pub. ( I know you are expecting) Take a drive to Presque Isle Park also.

I love that library! I think it was genius to put the kids library in the basement, away from the rest of the circulation, so the parents don't have to worry as much about their kids' volume! My son still remembers the St. Lucio celebration they held in the community room--five years ago!

There is so much that library offers. Unfortunately for all other towns, I compare all libraries to this one! Congratulations to the staff and board of the Peter White Library--you deserve it!

Now I'm waiting for the Children's Museum to win some awards (if they haven't already). Most towns the size of Marquette don't even have one and the one there is better than other children's musuems located in much larger towns.

Had Dinner at the Landmark last night , full house for all seatings. They have done wonders to the dining room remodel, which was always a problem for me , and their designer. The Hotel is quite historic, still needs some authentic work and redoing , but , for a small city like Marquette , it was quite an undertaking. I wish they had left the name as it was " Northland Hotel" for starters.... The Sky Room is still the best view in town for a snack/cocktail, I highly recommend it.
