Browns WR Stallworth hits, kills Fla. pedestrian - NFL - Yahoo! Sports (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=ap-stallworth-pedestriankilled&prov=ap&type=lgns - broken link)

He didn't flee the scene. Didn't someone tell him that's not how we do things down here? I guess he figured that since he is a celebrity he would get off anyway. No charges have been filed as of this time.

Oh man, that's terrible news. So sad to see that happen. But, he did stop and he took responsibility for it. I'm sure he feels awful.

I saw a pedestrian hit last night on South Miami Ave at Viscaya. A police officer ran - on foot - after the motorist (a young woman in a large SUV on the cel phone...) hollering for her to stop and radioing to other police in the area...he eventually gave up and told dispatch not to bother. THe pedestrian got up, apparently unhurt, and continued on to the event at Viscaya.

I recall this being rather common in downtown Chicago when I was there. My brother learned to roll over car hoods to take the blow without injury.

More care, more education, more support for pedestrians are needed everywhere, fer sure.

DR

Are you kidding? I'm not suprised though, since it happened in Miami. While I agree everyone needs to be more careful on the roads, Miami is the worst. I dont see it getting any better there either.

what was he doing walking on the causeway? I don't recall any bus stops right on the McArthur.

I heard on the news this morning that the blood test shows he (the driver) was over the legal limit. The lawers are already offering excuses.

lol yes miami is the only place on earth where bad people live or visit. I'm also impressed by your psychic ability to guess as to what his motives were for stopping and doing the right thing.

you wouldn't be miss cleo would you?

Hmm, show me a city where hit and runs occur more often, would you?

Miami has always attracted the nation's (and now the world's) HOT HEADS. To those who don't see a correlation between the fast, exotic, and suped-up car scene in Miami and the number of outregeous traffic incidents that occur here, you people are being very naive.

Are Latins and American Southerners hot heads? (Hint: the assault/battery rate was bad here even in the 60's.)
