Anyone have a recommendation on a good building to live in, ranging from Brickell up to Midtown?

I'm looking to rent a 1 or 2 bedroom at a $1500 price range, of course the newer the better and the more amenities included the better.

Also a big concern is that is is pet-friendly and located near a park for dog walking. I have a large 90 lb. dog.

I have seen units in Quantum on the Bay, and also interested in the 900 Biscayne building. Any observations on these buildings, or additional suggestions are very welcome.

Thanks!

check to see whether the owner is in trouble by checking for a "lis pending" here:
Miami-Dade County Clerk - County Recorder's Record Search (http://www.miami-dadeclerk.com/PUBLIC-RECORDS/default.asp - broken link)
Good source for the best condos are from an investor point of view; issues with building, tenants etc, % of building that is in foreclosure, nice ranking of buildings (real issues are not sugarcoated):
» Miami Condos For Sale | Miami Real Estate | Brickell & Miami Condos Blog (http://www.miamicondoinvestments.com/condo-deals/ - broken link)
Hope this helps, post what you find.

I've already visited the second site that you listed - Miami Condo Investments - great site with a ton of information. Will check the other as well.

Besides the real estate/legal issues, any other experience-based recommendations out there on a great building in these areas?

These are the best MLS sites available to non-realtors

Miami Brickell Condos - Miami condominiums directory Sale and Rent (miamicondocommando)

and...

Miami Condos Search (kafka-franz)

These sites are what help me make my decision(s)

Yes.
After you have narrowed your search, go and speak to the concierge, valet service guys.
Make nice with them.
An investor once recommended this.
I've found I get more real data in 10 minutes than anywhere else.
(Also gives you time to see who walks through the door)
