Definitely one of the best radio stations we had here in South Florida, I listened to it every day religiously from the end of my 6th grade middle school year to my mid junior year. I was so crushed when I put it on one morning and it was no longer there. Dance, Techno, Freestyle, everything! Even to this day, I miss it as it was a very important part of my teen years.

I still miss it, even though it ceased to exist 9 or so years ago.

When Power 96 abandoned freestyle and dance music in the late 90s/early 2000s, it left a void that Party was able to fill nicely. Once they pulled the plug on Party, freestyle and dance music lovers like me were again left with no station to turn to.

Now we have 4 stations -- Y100, Power 96, MY939, and Hits 97.3 -- that all share the same Top 40-ish format, which is most unfortunate. I'm hoping that it will dawn on Clear Channel or Cox to bring a dance station back to South Florida -- though I'd venture to say that the hip hop/pop crowd trumps dance lovers by a wide margin.

93.5 is pretty decent, although the broadcast signal is relatively weak (seems to get spotty if you go out to the southern/western suburbs). Party 93.1 was a great station--may have otherwise nonetheless been introduced to electronic music until much later (when it got popular and kind of crappy).

I've noticed that techno/trance/electronica/dance has become a lot more mainstream the last couple of years thanks to European DJs like David Guetta and Calvin Harris, who frequently collaborate with pop and hip hop stars.

Back in the 90s and early 2000s, genres like hip hop, pop and dance were mutually exclusive; in South Florida, for example, you had to tune in to 99 Jamz for your rap fix and Party 93.1 for dance music. These days, from Snoop Dogg to Katy Perry, artists are crossing over to different genres. This mishmash, I think, is largely the reason we are seeing more and more Top-40 stations (Power 96, My939, Hits 97.3, and Y-100) and fewer niche stations.

I have an old Edgar V broadcast from party 93.1 from 03 or 04 on one of my external hard drives.

This is from back when he was a trance dj.

The station that introduced me to Techno/electronic music.

The beginning of my Highschool days . I miss those days.
