Anybody remembers a toy shop in the NW specialized in electric trains? I believe it was one of the best in the country. I remember that the store almost got burned down during the riots. Perhaps the most professional shop I've ever seen in Miami. Thay also had remote controlled planes and rockets, kits for assembling sailing ships...

I wonder what became of that shop.

All kids went crazy in that place.

Yes, Orange Blossom.
After so much fight they had to close.
They were very nice people, gorgeous shop.
I remember the staff posted on the roof of the building to avoid being torch down during the riots.
What a pity.
------

Opened in 1947 and closed in 2001, it was the first Hobby Superstore. Orange Blossom Hobbies is still fondly remebered by those who shopped / visited the store. Pan American International was a hobby import / export business owned by the same owner of Orange Blossom Hobbies.

I guess, and I'm guessing, that the location was not right or that the shop was far too specialised and good for Miami.... or that electric trains, model building, etc..have been swept by video games...

Probably a combination of all those factors..

Electric trains is a very expensive hobby, but I believe you are correct in saying it has been superseded by video games.

Does anyone else remember the Cafeteria on Miracle Mile, Coral Gables ~ which was there for many, many years; owned by the same family and the same gentlemen who carried the trays to tables worked there all those years. I watched them grow old as I grew old ~ LOL !!! I miss the turkey with all trimmings for lunch !

Does anyone remember the Bonfire Restaurant and where it was located ? It was a unique place with guns mounted on the walls of the establishment.
