It looks like Mercedes is gearing up for what's essentially an electric E-class developed on a dedicated EV platform:

It's aiming for 400 miles of range and with what I think is a more normal-ish looking car than the much larger EQS.

Edmunds has a write-up on testing the Euro-spec version:

The EQS looks a bit funny to me, but the same style used on the different proportions of the smaller EQE to me seems a lot better. Apparently, I'm not the only one that feels that way: https://www.motor1.com/reviews/57466...qe-first-ride/

I’m a merc fan, and think my intro to the EV world will likely be a merc. I’m waiting too see what the EQB is like, and will keep my existing gas merc for the long road trips.

Less ugly than the EQS for sure, 3/10. Utterly boring in the looks department but it's not like the regular E class has much going for it these days. It's all moved on to the GT4 which while I'm not a huge fan of the fake coupes is a fantastic car. If they can get the base model in at closer to 60k should do well. The E450 starts at 62k and honestly no one will really miss anything in passing up that engine (or the badge job "AMG" 53) any. Solid enough performers but lacking in the character department.
