I'm exploring a possible relocation to Northampton from Seattle. I'm trying to search for jobs online, and not turning up too much...just a few online listings or classifieds. Are there just no jobs, or are the jobs not listed online? Is it more helpful to head to town and start knocking on doors?

Any advice on the job market would be much appreciated. My background is in communications and public affairs.

Hi Mighty Mo,

My wife and I just moved to Northampton from Seattle! Have you tried Craigslist?

If you can, I'd suggest coming to Northampton (area) and doing a search. Frankly, in the town itself you won't find many jobs--but in the region you'd have several choices. You might also check online for the Hampshire Gazette's classified section. And also in your field don't discount checking listings in the Boston Globe (it covers the entire state).

I lived just outside Northampton but worked in Springfield (about a 25 minute ride).

Good luck!

Most jobs in Northampton are related to the colleges nearby. It's a small town, not a lot of jobs in the area
