It has been about 5 years since I have been to Nantucket, and since I have a weeks vacation in the beginning of May I was thinking about driving out there for the time I have off.

The last time I was on Nantucket I rented a Jeep Wrangler 4X4 and had a great time driving around on the Coskata-Coatue reserve all the way to Great Point.

I also drove to Smith's Point and took the Jeep along Madaket Beach, I know that Esther's Island has been sliced through since then by a storm and then re-attached this past Fall by shifting sands. Is Madaket Beach open to 4x4 vehicles once again? Or is it still closed off?

Also, what other beaches are open to 4x4's on the island?

Thanks!
