In my town recenetly many trees and tree branches were cut down if they were near power lines...people were upset and complaining on the FB page and others responded saying do you like your power? It was kind of a shame some of the trees that had to be removed but it's not worth having the power go out every time it's windy.
Even without the power lines, I don't like that place in Amesbury.

The Duxbury house near the power lines was awesome. I wouldn't live there, though.

But for some, that's a plus.
Doesn't Amesbury have one of the highest property tax rates in the state?

2024 residential rate for Amesbury is $15.64. Roughly equivalent to towns such as Norfolk ($15.57), Wayland ($15.52), Holliston ($15.06). But less than towns such as Acton ($16.67), Stow ($16.97), Sharon ($17.58), Maynard ($17.88). I kept it focused on Greater Boston municipalities - there are some in Western MA with rates as high as $20+

Near power lines also.
Inside doesn't look that bad (there's A LOT worse out there). It's the outside that looks dumpy.

Might as well move to NH and pay no income tax if you're opting for a MA town with those high mil rates.

Never live on a street with line(s) painted down the middle.

Mill rate in Hampton right next door can be $17.65. But then you gotta live in Hampton.

What's so awful about Hampton? And what's so great about Amesbury? Genuinely asking.

I'd argue Hampton is the better pick. It has easier access to North Hampton and Rye beaches. No income tax and your property tax dollars aren't going toward supporting migrant shelters.

Yeah I'm not familiar with any of those towns (other than to avoid Seabrook), if you can work in NH (or remote so you don't have to file MA state tax) it seems like a no brainer to pay the extra $2 in mil rate. But if I'm stuck paying MA income taxes anyway, I'd be inclined to stay in MA unless I can get a ton more for my money across the border.
