560k for this tiny ranch on "Easy Street" in Sudbury. It seems really tiny to me, dunno if this is going to attract that much interest. Plus it's almost in Marlborough.
Went pending after the first weekend, I'll be curious what it went for.

I remember westwood station very well but there's some other aspects here.

In a nutshell Wegmans sells alcohol in other states. Wegmans is huge..I mean really, really huge. Their alcohol section is as big as a liquor store. We're not talking about five feet of $10 wine here. Initially the town told Wegmans no license. Wegmans said if we don't get that we don't open and the the whole development said if that doesn't open than this doesn't happen.

https://www.patriotledger.com/articl...NEWS/305079524

Eventually cooler heads prevailed.

But yes there are a number of projects that get cancelled time and again in Mass.

Remember Plymouth Rock Studios? Could have been an interesting idea.

Remember Cape Wind - what was that 12 years of back and forth

Of course there was the boston bid for amazon hq but nyc rejected it...

We've seen losses of amusement that's for sure. Kings Castle Land in Whitman is now a stop and shop, Super Sports in Carver is a Shaws, Paragon park closed in '85 and of course there was the dog track. Now I can understand jobs not always going up in value but sometimes when recreation for more low to moderate income families gets eroded it gets annoying. Yeah there's Great Wolf Lodge but that seems to be an exception.

Sometimes development just changes. I've seen a Au Bon Pain become a Panera Bread. A proposed Walmart had a "my way or the highway" mentality and a Kohls was put where a Caldors was.

It does appear as though the Fed, via QE, has found itself in a liquidity trap. Peter Schiff must be high-fiving his reflection in the mirror, though gold is declining with yields so maybe not.

Here in Burlington, Wegman's and Total Wine both bought existing liquor stores (and the licenses) as a quick way to get around the license limit.

As for APB becoming Panera - they were owned by the same company at one time.

I would say it's an amusement park of food. They also respond to customer comment cards. If you can't find it there it either is illegal (i.e. real Haggis) or doesn't exist (i.e. unicorn meat)

Beer and Wine licenses are not the same as a "Liquor" License. Quite common for grocery stores in other states to have Beer and Wine Licenses but not a "Liquor" license. Also quite common for Beer and Wine Licenses to have different selling hours then Liquor Licenses. Look at the NH Liquor stores. A different beast entirely.

As an example. In SC, Liquor Stores can be open 9am to 7pm and not on Sundays. They cannot sell beer and wine. Beer and Wine licensed places can sell beer and wine 24/7 unless local regulations say otherwise. Meaning for off premises consumption. Some big stores have a main entrance then two separate inside doors. One door to the liquor store, the other to the beer and wine store. Open hours vary on each side. Each sale must be rung up in the specific store. No cross shopping with one checkout.

Reminds me of a story about a famous NYC Restaurateur, Totts Shore. He could have stayed open until the wee hors of the morning but he closed every night at Midnight. He said if you have not got done what you want to get done by Midnight, go home, get some sleep, and come back tomorrow and try again.

IIRC Wegmans stores typically have a full license. They're really a package store that sells food than the other way around.

The one in Weymouth looks great for suburban metro Boston.

Authorities say a man was shot and killed at an apartment complex in Weymouth, Mass., Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021. (NECN)

"WEYMOUTH. Mass. (AP) — One person was killed and two others were wounded in a shooting at a Weymouth apartment complex over the weekend.
Police Chief Richard Fuller and Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey say police responded to the Mastlight complex after getting multiple 911 calls just before 3 a.m. on Sunday.
One man was located near the entrance to the building. Authorities say that man, 30-year-old Eric Small, of Cambridge, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead."
