Good luck, there are very few. We've been looking too, for several months. Many of the local real estate agents have the info, but only some have the option for you to search rentals on their websites. We've even tried vrbo.com and cyberrentals.com hoping to find a vacation home willing to rent all year. Its pretty sparse. GL!

The Brockton Enterprise is the other regional newspaper, which serves some of the communities that are considered "South Shore" but are more inland. The "Ledjah" would be my first choice where print (or online) media are concerned, but both are worth a look.

Please be specific as to your price range, whether schools are a consideration, if having public transportation close by is important, etc. That area has cities and towns with average incomes all the way from blue-collar (Quincy, Randolph, Brockton, Weymouth, and Rockland to name but five) to top-dollar (Hingham, Cohasset, Scituate, and Duxbury aka Deluxeberry in particular.) The new "Greenbush" commuter rail line is making once-remote places like Whitman and Plympton more attractive and practical to live in. For housing styles, there's everything from cookie-cutter ranches and split-levels to rambling older Colonials to new McMansions and 100-year-old Victorians.

Newspaper listings only tell you so much. CD is a great place to get the complete scoop, so help us to help you :-)

My wife and I and two boys ages 4 years old and 2 years 8 months are looking. What we want is a house or first floor in a house with certain criteria:
1. Over 1400 sq feet
2. Plenty of closet space w/ a basement and washer and dryer in or near the kitchen
3. a closed in, safe, back yard for the kids and a small dog
4. a safe neighborhood
5. a bright, sunny home especially the kitchen area
