Same thing with the new MGM in Maryland at the National Harbor .

The state of CT has some things going for it but the economy is not one of them. People are leaving and taxes are high. Roads are bad and jobs aren't that easy to find.

The one thing they've done is to put the trains in place. I hope that brings in revenue for CT. Of course it will mean that CT residents will be traveling to Springfield for the casino so that will be some loss of money.

I don't think there are that many insurance companies left in Hartford, but not sure. It's a total dump anyway, just keeps getting even worse. The rich people live down in the NYC part of CT but many people don't realize that there's a lot more to CT than the NYC part/Fairfield County.
When is the last time you were in downtown Hartford?

If you want to expound upon the beauties of Hartford, by all means, do so. Since I'm not a city person, I don't know one part from another. But I do tend to remember G Fox and how exciting it was to shop there. Is that downtown? Because last time I went there it had been turned into the SS office and was looking shabby.

G Fox was many years ago. That building was abandoned for a time but it has been home to Capital Community College since 2002.

Also The Hartford, Travelers, Aetna, The Phoenix.....they are all still in Hartford. Also quite a bit of revitalization has gone on. The one that has gotten the most press has been the new minor league ballpark which has seen sellout crowds for the majority of its games the first two years . But also many brand new luxury apartments. A whole new dining and entertainment district on Front Street..... Hartford is improving, it's not a dump that keeps getting worse.

Okay, maybe so. I hope so. I'd love to see the great cities make a comeback. Hartford is on the verge of bankruptcy but I hope it can overcome and go forward. Springfield seems to be making steps in the right direction at last.

Growth benefits both and add in new haven too. As a region it is the 20th largest in the country. It makes sense to try to work with each other than mimic. There's no need for another ct casino or a baseball stadium in Springfield etc. The river, rail and highway links these cities together for better or worse.

As somebody who grew up in the Worcester area, I've never heard of anybody saying "lets go to Lowell" Even Providence people only go there for the strip clubs. I'm not a big "club guy" Worcester had sports bars so that was fine with me.

I had friends from Northborough the wanted to go to a place in Marlborough every once in a while.

Strip clubs don't interest me, but its hard to believe people from Providence go to Lowell for them! Really?

Oh I just read what I wrote, I'm an idiot I guess. I meant people from Worcester go to Providence for strip clubs.

Honestly- do people really go to strip clubs anymore? I mean, normal well-adjusted adults-with-jobs people. I think the last time a friend of mine suggested going to a strip club was when we were 20.
