Hi,

I have had a similar question a few months ago and now would like to see if I can get more info as we plan to move in Feb. We are looking for apartments in Andover/North Andover. Any reviews on Royal Crest Estates in North Andover? Seems to be the one with more options. But the assigned elementary school Atkinson seems rated lowest compared to all others in N.Andover/Andover. Any reviews on Atkinson? Any other suggestions of Apartment names in the area? Berry Farms seems new but looks expensive..

We lived in North Andover from 2011-14, and just had to let you know that I heard one horrible story after another about Royal Crest (aka, "Royal Crust," according to the native North Andover-ians). Silverfish in the apartments, management that is all about the sale, but very unresponsive after the lease is signed, noisy neighbors, etc. We got really lucky and found an available apartment at the Sutton Pond Condos (148 Main St), though it is tricky to get one since they are privately owned, and you just have to watch Trulia, Zillow, and Craigslist like a hawk and respond *quickly* (it also helps to put up a "looking for apartment" ad on CL, if you have the patience to wade through all of the phishing scams and Nigerian princes who want to give you a million dollars, that is). I've also heard that the newly-opening condos at Elm St at Water are pretty nice, and reasonably priced.

Those Royal Crest apartments have to be old. I'm pretty sure those are the ones my college roommate lived in when her parents 1st moved to the state. That was a long time ago and those complexes don't seem to wear well over time.

Stay away from Royal Crest! The basement apts have mold issues and you have a lot of Merrimack college students living there. Berry farms is a new apt complex on Rt 114 in NA. Very close to Middleton. Also some new apts right in Downtown NA are available.

Atkinson elementary is rated a 7. Most of the apt rentals you will find are in the Atkinson and Thomson school district. Berry farms I believe is Sargent school.
