We are considering buying a house in Needham, in the Hillside Elementary School district. I'm wondering about the school. Does anyone know if its a good school, and how it compares with the other elementary schools in Needham? I did see that it gets a slightly lower score than the other three schools, but I'm not sure those scores mean that much!! Thank you so much for any information.

Personally I think you are splitting hairs when you compare different scores among elementary schools in Needham. The Hillside school has a strong sense of community, and an active PTC. I would say the kids (or the parents) there are more down to earth than some of the other schools in town.

All the elementary schools in Needham are good schools. Some have bigger class sizes and some have smaller. Some buildings are newer and some are older. When my wife was in elementary school I'm told Hillside was the "hot" elementary school of the day. At this point though, the facilities at Hillside are quite long in tooth and the building is slated for replacement in the near future. There's a bit of a debate going on in town as to whether to rebuild the school in it's current location or to move it to a location that is currently a park. The most recent update I have is that the town has submitted a Statement of Interest (SOI) to the MA School Building Authority in hopes of procuring funds for the project.
